The lineup has been confirmed for the 2017 Underbelly Festival and its pretty Awesome.

The Underbelly Festival at London’s Southbank features everything from Comedy, to Circus as well as family entertainment to Cabaret and Variety shows.

From the 2nd May 2017 right through to September 2017, you can be entertained by great performers, while you drink, laugh and sometimes cringe.

At Flavourmag we love the Cabaret and Variety element of the Underbelly Festival 2017 and here’s 8 must see shows on this years lineup.

1. Miss Polly Rae: Between the Sheets

15th June – 29th September 2017 – Tickets from £17.50 (includes £1.50 in fees per ticket)

Celebrating so many shades of sensual and all things risqué, Between The Sheets is a thrill-seekers paradise of late night cabaret performed by an exceptional troupe, hand-picked from the worlds of contemporary burlesque, circus and dance. Rib-tickling comedy meets gasp-inducing spectacle, in a high-energy and distinctly modern variety show. Featuring exclusive, original material and acts never-to-be-seen anywhere else – this is one summer show guaranteed to set pulses racing.

2. Aurora Galore: Glamorous Weirdo

With her contemporary aesthetic, a modern soundtrack, and energetic acts that are full of power and pizzazz, Aurora displays an eclectic mix of “intriguingly textured – at times disturbing – burlesque”, performance art and sideshow-oddity. Through authentic dialogue and carefully crafted movements, prepare to enter the toybox of Aurora Galore’s raw, unedited mind and witness the “furiously high-energy” show that aims to entertain, inspire and unsettle.

Edinburgh Fringe favourite Best of Burlesque celebrates 5 years running with a new all-star cast and extravaganza, coming to London for the 1st time! An international round-up of the finest in strip tease, cabaret and variety from the legendary producers of the London Burlesque Festival now in it’s eleventh year. Best of Burlesque delivers the hottest emerging and established acts and is renowned for being a great night out.

4. Black Cat Cabaret

London’s favourite purrrveyors of dark and daring cabaret entertainment return with a spectacular show inspired by vintage, after-hours Montmartre. Expect to encounter high-kicking showgirls, jaw-dropping acrobats, comic street singers, musicians, aerialists and a belle epoque sense of giddy abandonment! All of which is bound together by The Black Cat’s “compère beyond compare”, Dusty Limits. Returning to the Southbank for a 4th summer season, The Black Cat is the place to experience modern cabaret in all of its wondrous forms – from the sacred to the profane, the lyrical to the downright louche.

5. Le Bouge Néon

Featuring burlesque royalty such as Miss Fallon Dee (Moulin Rouge, Paris), Kitty Bang Bang (The world famous Whisky Drinking Fire breather) and Miss Betsy Rose (Voted Britain’s No1 Burlesque Act and 9th in the world!) whose acts include more crystals, fire, feathers and tassels than you’ll ever find in the burlesque capitals of Paris, Vegas and Berlin.

6. House of Burlesque: 2.0

This innovative and bold show show is like nothing you have seen before. Queen of provocateurs, Tempest Rose and her House of Burlesque are meshing the traditions of hi-end glamour, joyful satire and subversive cabaret with stunning technology and a new vision, confronting today’s big issues – proving this mesmerising art form is more relevant than ever. These are crazy times we’re living in, so it’s time to have some fun while we put the world to rights.

7. Stars and Strippers! An All American Burlesque Revue

After a jam-packed debut performance last summer, London’s electrifying Burlesque troupe wiggle their way back to The Southbank, to celebrate everything you love or loathe about the US of A! Their unique blend of sexy and silly means you can expect everything from Vegas feathers, to whiskey-drinking cowgirls, to tap dancing Trumps, in this fun, cheeky Burlesque Revue. Over the past seven years, Cabaret’s ultimate girl group has grown in both numbers and rhinestones! From Soho Cabaret Clubs, to UK Theatre tours, from The Baltics to The Seychelles, The Folly Mixtures bring the feel-good factor to Burlesque shows across the globe. Their biggest show to date features Boylesque superstar ‘Dave The Bear’ and Cabaret legend Dusty Limits, who will guide you through this glitter filled journey, showcasing fabulous group choreography, sparkling costumes and saucy wit!

8. The Neon Moon Cabaret Club: Wonderland

Get your ticket to go down the rabbit hole with the Neon Moon Cabaret Club, as they bring a spectacular one-off show to the Underbelly Festival. Come in costume for your chance to experience a classic cabaret show that will showcase some of the best talent on the scene!

The Neon Moon Cabaret Club have been specialising in vintage pop-up shows for the last 5 years, creating amazing shows in everything from stately manors to small intimate cocktail bars. With a WONDERLAND theme for this show, we will be bringing an eclectic mix of burlesque and variety acts to entertain you!

Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School

Dr. Sketchy’s is the world’s premier alternative drawing movement. Started by artist Molly Crabapple in New York. Dr. Sketchy now attracts audiences in over a hundred cities across the globe (including New York, London, Paris, Tokyo and Melbourne) it’s the little Brooklyn event that has exploded into an international phenomenon.

So here in London they’ve scoured this great city to find beautiful burlesque performers, bizarre circus acts, and rippling hunks of man-flesh. Then we let them loose on stage for you to sketch in an atmosphere of artistic mayhem. In between each round of sketching you get a chance to grab a drink get comfortable and take in some of the finest cabaret the big smoke has to offer. Hosted by Dr. Sketchy’s evil headmaster Dusty Limits.
