There’s a lot to be said about coffee. For most of us it’s something we need. The tube a sea of coffee cups as commuters wake themselves up on the journey to work. A mug to warm you up on a cold winters evening.

But with summer in full flow, you’d think coffee would be the last thing on peoples mind. Except we’re being blessed with new, innovative cold coffees. And they’re the hot new thing.

For generations the cup of tea has been Britain’s favourite, but with a Starbucks on every corner and a range to choose from, whether it be the simple latte or the mochawochadooda, it appears the coffee bean is taking over.

In fact coffee was voted as the nation’s favourite drink in a recent poll by Ladbrokes, with 23% of the nation choosing it as its go to drink. And with us in the peak of the summer months, we run down the best warm weather coffees to give us our fix all year round.

Mocha Frappuccino

Generally a bog-standard option when it comes down to cold coffee, the Mocha Frappuccino involves a standard cappuccino, with whipped cream, chocolate, and chocolate sauced added to it.

It’s the perfect way to cool down on a lunch break, giving you the kick you need for an afternoon slog at work.

Metropolis Ethiopia Yirgacheffe

Getting a little more interesting now, this Metropolis offering may not be cold – although of course you can drink it iced – but the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe is as refreshing as they come. Its first sip is both light and sweet, whilst its strong blend is perfect for an early wake up call.

It’s an African coffee so used to being drank in warm climes, and couldn’t come any more highly recommended.

Iced Coffee Lollies

We’re getting to the fun side of coffee now, and these iced lollies are ideal for sitting in the park, garden, or anywhere to just lap up the rays.

And they are so simple to make. All you need is coffee, brown sugar, and milk – essentially all you need to make a cup, find some lolly moulds, brew up, wait for it to cool down, and pour the coffee into the moulds, pop them in the freezer and hey presto. Coffee lollies.

Frozen Coconut Chai Latte

This is by far our favourite. Put together by the Frugal Foodie Mama, the Frozen Coconut Chai Latte is a creamy delight, using silk coconut milk and chai tea, and topped with toasted coconut.

It’s a drink that’s full of flavour and even if you’re not a coffee lover, it’s hard not to enjoy the drink, and is a dairy alternative to the nation’s favourite drink.
