DAM is back with a brand new selection of mixtapes that can now be played on our brand new mixtape player which you can check out below.
So, the last post we had on Flavour was about Xmas coming up, now theres another day coming up which for the romantics out there is probably just as important, if you do know what it is you’re not one of these romantics! So to celebrate, if thats the right word, this months selection features a couple mixtapes you could use if Valentines Day goes really well for you!
So first up is recent OMA double nominee DJ Larizzle, who’s put together the 35 track strong mix of slow jams entitled – The Valentines Slow Jamz Selection Pt 1.2
Next up, not brand new but featuring some classic R&B slow jams for the bedroom is DJ Genius & DJ Iceberg – Do Not Disturb. This one goes through all the classics including Jodeci getting freaky, Adina Howard having T-Shirt and panties on and many other tracks for Valentines night!
That should be enough to keep you going over Valentines Day, for the other days of the we’re back to business with the biggest mixtapes released over the last month.
First up has to be English Franks – Listen To Frank. This is one of those mixtapes that blurs the line between mixtape and album. It’s already being hailed by people in the industry as a contender for mixtape of the year, and has some quality features and production from the likes of Mic Righteous, Durrty Goodz and more, then Dego Brown and Preston Play amongst others on the keys.
Going back to this months theme of R&B we’ve got one of the most promising R&B artists to come out the UK for a while in the shape of Angel. The mixtape, ‘Any Minute Now’ gives an insight as to why MTV amongst others have tipped him as one to watch for 2012.
Flying the flag for the UK in the US this month is Lady Leshurr who has had the DJ Whoo Kid treatment for her mixtape ‘2000 and L’. Leshurr has been gathering a lot of heat recently with videos popping up on sites like WorldStarHipHop, this 9 track mixtape should provide a launch pad for Leshurr in the states and also keep her UK fans happy.
Finally, we have to go for Princess Nyah’s – ‘Destroy & Rebuild EP’. Princess Nyah has put in a lot of work and despite UK Funky not being as big as it was, she is definitely one of the success stories of that scene. The EP is 5 tracks deep and has features from NoLay and Wiley -
Thats it for now, hope you enjoy the new mixtape player, its the first of a few new features you’ll see on DAM. Also we’re are up for a mixtape award at the OMA’s so don’t forget to vote for us! – officialmixtapeawards.com/vote forDAM. Until next time don’t forget to DAM it!!
