Unlike the tip detailed above, brushing your tongue is often a very neglected – yet very essential – part of keeping your teeth, as well as your gums, healthy. Brushing your tongue is a wonderful way of not only removing excess plaque from your mouth, but it also helps to reduce the foul breath smell which often occurs as a result of a build-up of plaque in the mouth.

Drink a lot more water

This tip can also apply to your general health too! Not only can drinking more water be helpful for your overall health by keeping you hydrated and therefore decreasing general fatigue, but can also help flush out some more nasty bacteria and germs which have a tendency to build-up in your mouth throughout the day. Drinking a glass of water after every meal can really help this!

See your dentist at least twice a year

This, again, is an obvious one but is also a tip that is often overlooked in our everyday stressful lives. By seeing your dentist on average at least twice a year, you can help prevent any further dentistry issues. Your dentist is an expert in their field and will be able to spot any problems which have already occurred, or which are about to occur.

Floss!

Finally, the one which your dentist always tells you to do – and which you always ignore – flossing! Not only does flossing remove larger chunks of debris that stick between your teeth and lodge into your gums, flossing also stimulates your gums. This works to prevent inflammation and reduce plaque in the area.
