DJ Chuckie aka Clyde Sergio Narain is the Dutch super dj, producer and all round dirty house music machine whose name just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Work with names like Pitbull and T-Pain on productive duties, playing at some of the best known and biggest events known to man and of course creating music the foundation of his global popularity. Chuckie has become somewhat of a brand with his Dirty Dutch sound and for sure things seem to be on the ascendancy even though he has been on the scene since 1993.

Late 2013 and Chuckie puts on his productive hat to drop another big, bad banger to add to his already heaving discography with the single Sky dive. Not shy in featuring artists this time he has stepped to our shores to collaborate with the brilliant Maiday who adds her sonorous vocals to this dirty house number.

Maiday actually featured in Future Flavours I will have you know! Last installment coming soon.

Chuckie hope you good. You have been dj’ing for a while but what’s down time like for you?

Hi, I’m doing very well. When I have down time, I spend a lot of time at home in Aruba. I moved to Aruba like two years ago and I think it’s one of the best moves I have ever made in my life! It’s such an amazing place-it always feels like being on vacation when I’m in Aruba. Most of the time you can find me on the boat, on the beach or just simply at home, just straight up relaxing!

What have you been doing in the drive to get brand Chuckie / Durty Dutch out there?

Today I am doing a big show for the Dutch king here in Aruba. It’s an honor for me doing such an event and it’s another milestone in my career. It’s really crazy when these kind of events happen to me because it will always remind of where I started as a DJ and where it all started for me when I was trying to push my Dirty Dutch brand. To push a brand is not easy but I think what helped me a lot is that I had a clear vision of my brand and I am very consistent in promoting it. I do the majority of my social media myself and that’s not an easy task if you look at my hectic agenda. 90% of my time I am on the road and in a different time zone every 24 hours.

Dirty Dutch explain that sound, the night and of course the fact that you seem to have made it into a clothing line?

Dirty Dutch all started with a mind state. The mind state is to think outside the box. The “dirty” in Dirty Dutch refers to the Dutch street culture, the biggest source of inspiration for Dirty Dutch. I translated that to a musical guideline for the events and the result is that Dirty Dutch events are musically very eclectic orientated because the Dutch street culture is the biggest source of inspiration, the fashion/clothing part came kind of natural. At the moment the Dirty Dutch caps are selling like hot cakes and I’m rebuilding the web shop in order to handle the demand for my merchandise even better.

Ok Skydive you have Maiday on the vocals was she suggested to you or did you know about her before?

SkyDive_Final

The instrumental of Skydive was produced when I was in a session with Star Gate (known for the majority of Rihanna’s hits). They told me that Maiday would write an absolute smash on this beat. So we gave it a try and two days later she came up with the lyrics and the melody. I love it when people point out the next big artists. Most of the time I am aware of what’s going on but I was completely surprised with Maiday.

Part of the promo for Skydive involves the different remixes. Is it possible to name a favourite out of Decibel, Roska and Vato Gonzalez?

It’s hard to compare the remixes because they’re all so different from each other but if I have to chose, I would say that the Vato Gonzales remix works the best for me because most of the time I play peak time sets and this remix fits best in those sets.

What’s coming up next from you then in terms of music-is there an album dropping or just singles?

In 2014 I’m dropping 4 radio singles and 6 club records. I have a rough sketch of most of the records but I am shaping them up as I go. I am trying to work as much as possible when I am on the road. With almost 40 people working with me on a daily base, I’m sure we can manage all of this…
