Girl groups & pop music in the UK go hand in hand, but when it comes to the dance/urban scene there seems to be a shortage – something that leaves plenty of room for the crazy cool girl group Fe-Nix to rise.

Hailed as the UK’s answer to the Pussycat Dolls, the London-born Jade, Ayshen, Tanya and new MC addition Redd combine soft, soulful femininity with a fierce attitude to fill a gaping hole in the UK market for a raw, sexy and edgy girl band that seamlessly bridges the urban and dance genres.

Their new single ‘Red Light’ releases on 16th January and below you can catch the girls shooting a tasty mix of scenes for their music video, which also features Lee Ryan (Blue) in an interesting character role:

Following on from their club smashes Lady Baby and Swagga – both heavily supported both by BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra , with Galaxy declaring Swagga their Record of the Week – the Fe-Nix ladies took some time out in the studio to put together their debut album and are now back and ready to take centre stage with their new single RED LIGHT – out January 16th. Showcasing their trademark feisty attitude, they warn: “I’m not going to sugarcoat this for you… I’m giving you the red light”. With a radio edit courtesy of producers JP & LP, the team behind the Streetdance soundtrack, the single boasts a phenomenal remix package from Ripper (Beyonce, Usher, Rihanna), DJ Sticky (Ms Dynamite), Illmana (BBC 1Xtra) and Splurgeboys.

2009 was the breakthrough year for Fe-Nix as they smashed onto the scene with Lady Baby; securing a support slot on N Dubz’s sold-out arena tour alongside Tinchy Stryder and fronting the European campaign for Nelly’s fashion brand Apple Bottoms, before going on to feature in the hit Sky 1 reality TV show Pineapple Dance Studios alongside Louie Spence and releasing follow-up club banger Swagga.

Fe-nix’s debut album is slated for release early next year on Genetic Records. Working with an enviable line-up of producers – including Sammy Jay (Booty Luv), Yogi (Professor Green), Skillz (Big Brovaz), Sticky (Ms Dynamite), Kettle and the up and coming Blair – expect an upfront, sexy sound that skillfully mixes urban flavours with pop sensibilities and club beats.

”We’ve been working really hard on the album, with some amazing producers and we’re just so excited for everyone to hear the new music… Red Light was the perfect choice for the lead single because it sums us up – we’re strong, independent ladies; we write our own music and we represent real life.’’ – Tanya, Fe-Nix.

You can now watch the new video from the the feisty foursome – check it out below! Directed by Sam Evans, the video is focused around a Sin City theme with state of the art animation courtesy of Martyn Niman.
