Raised in war-torn Congo and now located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Hip Hop artist KUBI $I has a fascinating background, and a story to tell.
He drops his new single ‘How You Know’ which features his brother Pali, who was released on temporary leave from his military position to help record the track which drops on OCTOBER 29TH, 2015.
An avid reader and poet, Kubi $I works as a banker, managed a Fortune 500 Company at the age of 20, was a professional basketball player, and also received scholarships for his boxing prowess. This combination of skills and interests work together to form an artist with varied influences and life experience.
Musically, Kubi $i cites influences such as Kid Cudi, Tupac and Drake – a combination that helps create a smooth yet playful track. ‘How You Know’ was recorded in Nashville, Tennesse and came out of an extremely difficult situation. Kubi $I’s sister passed away, and as a result his brother Pali was released on temporary leave from his position in the US army as a combat medic. Pali flew to Milwaukee to feature on ‘How You Know’, creating a sense of family unity to record the track.
No stranger to performing, Kubi $I has played at the largest music festival in Wisconsin, after being selected to play Summer Fest as a part of their series on the Pottawatomie Stage. He has also previously opened for Lil’ Wayne.
