Fundraising event for hurricane hit school
October 28, 2009 by Nadifa Sheikhey
The Stewarton Early Childhood Centre Fund is hosting a fundraising fashion and cultural event in aid of an impoverished nursery school in Jamaica.
The event kicks off in the afternoon with a fashion show showcasing some of London’s most innovative young designers including recent BEFFTA award winner and nominees followed by food, music and dance.
The Stewarton Early Childhood Centre is the only school in the area; it packs all 82 students into the single classroom of a rundown building, the roof is still not repaired after severe damage by the last major hurricane.
As the school receives no government funding, The Stewarton Early Childhood Centre Fund was set up this year to support it and has organized this event with all proceeds going to the school.
Date: 14 November 2009
Place: The Karibu Education Centre, Gresham Rd, London, SW9 7HP
