This Autumn, Hakkasan Hanway Place will embrace the darker days and crisp weather with a brand new seasonal Dim Sum Sundays menu, offering a unique alternative to traditional Sunday lunch.

07_cage03_0237_300px_CMYKFrom Sunday 26th October, when the clocks go back and the evenings are longer, the Michelin-starred restaurant will launch spicy cocktails to accompany the new Dim Sum Sundays menu, featuring a feast of dim sum, modern Chinese dishes and Champagne. Available each Sunday from midday to 6:45pm, Dim Sum Sundays offers a stylish environment in which friends and family can prolong the weekend and share Winter-warming dishes, cocktails and Champagne.

The experience will be accompanied by a Sunday soundtrack from the resident DJ, Pathaan, who will be joined on 26th October by Bill Brewster (DJ History). Priced at £58 per person (£48 without alcohol), the Dim Sum Sundays menu was created to offer comforting cuisine and includes a selection of small eats to start, an extensive range of steamed, baked, fried and grilled dim sum, main dishes and desserts. Menu highlights include Crispy smoked duck and pumpkin puff, Golden radish crabmeat pastry, Sautéed venison fillet in Mongolian sauce with pak choi and Apple tatin with blackberry, almond crumble and vanilla.

Winter SourThe menu includes a cocktail to start, such as the Winter Sour with Apricot, gingerbread, whisky, lemon, nutmeg and bitters, followed by a half bottle of Louis Roederer Brut Premier NV Champagne to accompany the meal. The experience concludes with a choice of digestif cocktails to enjoy with dessert, including the Ruby Warmer, served hot with brandy, port, cinnamon, nutmeg and liquorice bitters. A range of loose leaf teas are also available.

We were invited along to try the new menu on Sunday and it was without doubt one of our favourite culinary experiences of the year. Hakkasan is known to be frequented by celebrities such as Kanye West ,Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger but don’t be fooled into thinking this is a spot only for the rich and famous! When we arrived the restaurant was buzzing with a nice mix of people from couples to large groups of friends making the most of the music and champagne.

Wok-fried XO lamb chopOur waiter was absolutely perfect and found the perfect balance of attentiveness without being intruding – constantly topping up our champagne and water whilst keeping our tables clean in-between plates. The Dim Sum Sundays menu has several different items and at first these may seem overwhelming but the waiter explained each plate as it was brought to the table to ensure we was aware of what was being presented before us. The food as expected was exceptional and presented beautifully.

The climax of the menu was one of Hakkasans after-dinner cocktails – warming and seasonal I had a Charentais Toddy which is a warm blend of Hennessy, Cinnamon, cardamom and cloves – the perfect way to end a delicious feast. When you consider the Champagne, the cocktails, the numerous courses and incredible setting the value for money is excellent… I really cant think of anywhere better to spend a Sunday evening!
