H&M, hoodie, The Weekend

You’ve probably already heard that H&M has caused outrage with its recent images which sees a young black child modelling a green slogan hoodie with the words ‘Coolest monkey in the jungle’.

If you haven’t heard or seen the news, all we can say is where have you been? As the time of writing this article, the story has already reached No.4 on the Google UK trends list for the last 24 hours.

Singer superstar The Weeknd, who is one of the current brand ambassadors for H&M helped the advert to come to light when he tweeted that he will not be working with H&M anymore and that he is ‘DEEPLY‘ offended ‘SHOCKED’ and ‘EMBARRASSED’ of the racist undertone of the advert.

A spokesperson from H&M told the Metro: ‘This image has now been removed from all H&M channels and we apologize to anyone this may have offended.’

The Silver Lining…

Music and business mogul P.Diddy has however added a silver lining to the advert. Reports that P.Diddy is looking to hire the young model in the advert for his latest campaigns as well as offering him a $1MILLION dollar contract started surfaces across the net.

P.Diddy also posted the counter image below on his Instagram account stating ‘Put some respect on it!! When you look at us make sure you see royalty and supernatural God sent glory!! Anything else is disrespectful’.

Question: Is this all a bit racist? or simply an honest mistake?? Leave your comments below.

And now that this child is in the spotlight, we hope the contract with P.Diddy does come to light for the child’s future.
