Tinchy Stryder

He started out as a Star In The Hood but now Tinchy Stryder is going on tours, signing autograph’s and reaching heights he never thought possible. With his distinctive swagger he’s now delivering shows with his phenomenal lyrics and catchy choruses.

At present there’s no one like him (in the music industry), which makes him one of the most sought after artists, here in the UK. Now this summer he’s to hit the stage at this year’s Live Fest – London’s biggest indoor festival taking place at the home of music shows – AEG’s O2. With some of the biggest and freshest acts the UK has to offer Live Fest is going to be a night not to be missed. We caught up with the Stryder man himself to find out why he wanted to be a part of this project.

Hey Tinchy, how are you?
I’m good you know.

How’s your day been?
Hectic as usual.

What does that mean, what is a normal day like for you?
I don’t know, talking about it is tripping me up. I just live day by day, minute by minute.

So what was the first track that you heard today?
Superbass by Nicki Minaj.

What made you want to be a part of Live Fest?
What made me want to be a part of this? Well I’m hearing that it’s the biggest indoor festival. You know it’s in O2?

Yeah, do you think that this is the biggest attraction for Live Fest?
I think that it being indoors [is great]. When you think of festivals you think of the outdoors and the whole festival life. But being indoors [and at the] O2 arena, I think that’s enough.

Why should someone buy a ticket?
To see everyone on the line up it’s going to be a good show – I think it’s going to be special, I know that everyone’s going to bring something special so make sure you’re a part of it.

What’s the best thing about it?
I love performing so when you get asked to do something like this you want to be a part of it. I was glad to join [the line up].

What can your fans expect to see from you at Live Fest that they haven’t seen before?
That’s the thing, every time I perform it’s never routine, every show and every crowd brings something different out of you.

Do you have everything planned?
I don’t really like over planning, it’s more spontaneous. When we get there on the day we’ll probably be like let’s try this. It’s going to be fun, plus I enjoy interacting with the crowd.

Who are you excited to see?
Funnily enough everyone. Everyone who I’ve heard that is on the line up – I haven’t seen for a while – so I’d like to see most people.

Who are you yet to see live?
I’m mostly into hip hop and rap so I’m yet to see Lil’ Wayne live.

Who have you seen live that you love?
Jay-Z, Rihanna and R.Kelly are some of the names.

Other than Live Fest which other festival are your favourite?
Wow! It’s hard to pick one, that’s like saying which one is my favourite pair of trainers. It’s so hard, but one that I enjoyed doing the most was Wireless [back in 2009].

Make sure to catch Tinchy Stryder and a whole host of other artists from the UK, including The Hoosiers and N-Dubz at Live Fest at the O2 on the 23rd July 2011.
