Singed to independent label USG Entertainment, 15-year-old Geko recently released his debut mixtape ‘Voice Of The Future.’  The rising rap star hails from Manchester – his sound is rooted within grime and hip-hop, infused with some exceptional rhymes both lyrically and in the area of subject matter.

As a newbie to the scene, Geko packs quite a punch. Over the last few years he has been showcasing his youthful energy whilst building a reputation for himself. Oh did we fail to mention he’s still in school? Spend the next few minutes getting to know the youngster destined for big things.

Let’s go back to the start, how did your love for music begin?

My love for music came naturally. I have always been a fan of rap and hiphop music. I decided at the age of 8 to try and write my own material, and from there its history.

Who are some of your musical influences?

My main influences have to be 50 Cent, Eminem, Jadakiss, and Styles P. But obviously, on the UK front I can’t forget K Koke.

I’ve seen your energy in your Youtube videos, talk to me about your motivation?

My motivation is to express my emotions, to be successful and to allow my family to live nice and see the stuff they haven’t seen yet.

What do you feel that you exclusively have to offer the UK scene?

I have a lot to bring to UK scene, I am the future of it and point will be proven very soon.

Let’s talk more about, ‘Voice of the future.’ What’s the concept behind it?

‘Voice Of The Future’ is a bag of tunes that have been recorded and put on a mixtape. It has a lot of emotion and also different types of concepts that I have never used before.

Any plans for an album?

Yes – an album will be coming towards the end of 2013. You will hear the professional and dramatic change from ‘Voice Of The Future’ to the album ‘Plan Of The Future.’

You are signed to the same label as K Koke, has he given you any advice or tips?

Yeah, he has given me loads of advise to make sure I remain me on the right path. He is one to listen to as he’s in a good position, which is something that motivates me to reach the goals I’m aiming for.

Besides music how is life for you as a teenager?

Life as a teenager is mad! I have to juggle school while getting music on the right track. I think all the attention and opportunities that face me can be distracting for me from my life outside music, but I don’t mind as it’s  what I want for the future.
