Phil Cooper is a songwriter from the Lennon/McCartney school of hooky choruses and straight up toe-tapping melodies.

Finding himself rather content in life was a double-edged sword. Gone was the inspiration for mournful songs about unrequited love and emotional struggles and he had to dig deep to find something to replace them. But after giving up his job in 2016 to concentrate on music and spending two years as a full-time troubadour, Phil found himself with plenty of other things to write about.

The aptly titled studio album “Thoughts & Observations” is a collection of songs of social commentary and musings about life.

Phil has always had a strong social conscience, having previously recorded songs about electoral reform and making sure the voice of the “nice guy” is heard above the noise. Album number three shifts up a gear, and tackles subjects as varied as the modern day press media, political extremes, and social media bubbles while still finding plenty of room for hope and open-mindedness.

The lyrics booklet features artwork taken from Phil’s inventive “Doodle Pad” idea. For the last two years, Phil has been handing the pad out at his shows, where audience members are invited to get creative and draw doodles.
