n-dubz1ChildLine and Dubplate Drama are offering budding performers the chance to show off their talents on Channel 4 and MTV Base. Winners of the ‘Spit It Out’ competition, running from April 6th to May 22nd, will star in high-profile sponsorship adverts (bumpers) surrounding the explosive third series of interactive TV show Dubplate Drama, due to broadcast in June. A host of celebrities, including N-Dubz, DJ Ironik, Tim Westwood, Trevor Nelson, Jay Sean, Craig David and Mobo Best Newcomer Chipmunk are supporting the campaign by recording their own similar sponsor adverts for ChildLine.

How to enter
The Spit It Out competition invites entrants to film themselves ‘spitting’ original lyrics on issues that matter to them and upload the clips on to Dubplate Drama’s MySpace page (www.myspace.com/dubplatedrama). The campaign aims to drive home the message that whatever matters to young people also matters to ChildLine, and that talking about problems helps solve them.

A shortlist of the most original and best-executed performances will be selected via online vote, and 4 eventual winners picked by a judging panel consisting of Head of MTV Base Jasmine Dotiwala, DJ Tim Westwood, ChildLine, and the creator of Dubplate Drama Luke Hyams. Each of these talented performers, along with a friend, will be whisked to London to re-film their lyrics at MTV’s studios.

New series
Dubplate Drama, described by the Guardian as ‘the most exciting, the most socially aware and the most inspirational TV show’ uses viewers’ votes to influence storylines. Presented with a multiple choice dilemma at the end of each episode, fans log on to MySpace to choose their preferred outcome. First broadcast in 2005, the music- focussed series has attracted critical acclaim as well as an army of dedicated fans. A hotbed of new British talent, the show’s past stars have included N-Dubz, who also appear in season 3, and brother and sister Mobo Award winners Ms Dynamite and Akala.

The first episode of the brand new third season will be aired on Channel 4 and MTV Base in June. The first and second series will be repeated on both channels from mid-March.

Dubplate Drama Series 3 will continue to push the boundaries of multi platform interactive entertainment, pioneering new methods of audience engagement whilst also addressing important real life social issues to a young audience.

Music remains at the heart of the drama and the third series reflects a change in musical tastes. The soundtrack to the show expands beyond grime and UK hip-hop to encapsulate the blossoming funky house and bassline sounds, and continues to champion the cream of the UK’s most exciting and emerging young artists.
