On a recent visit to the delightful Thai Square Mansion House, my friend and I enjoy a tsunami of dishes from the A La Carte menu.
As you enter Thai Square, you’ll see ornaments and lighting, candles on all the tables and a balanced mix of business and pleasure diners all in one place. Friendly staff great you with a smile and see you to your seats. The restaurant is warm, cosy and noisy enough to add a bit of a vibe, yet quiet enough to hear your friends or guests speaking over the table.
The extensive menu means no-one is left out, carnivores, pescatarians, vegetarians and vegans can enjoy the delights that Thai Square has to offer. For those of us with allergies, you’ll appreciate the Thai Square menu’s allergy key which covers nuts, milk, Sulphur Dioxide, soya and more.
The pricing structure is inexpensive which lead us to assume the dishes would be all small plates… We couldn’t have been more wrong. Thai Square offers amazingly large sized portions, that do not seem to reflect the cost of each dish.
Our order consisted of Salt and Pepper Squid, Soft Shell Crab with ‘Kaprao Sauce’, Vegetable and Tofu Satay (my guest was a veggie), Butterfly Prawns, Pad Priew Waan Tofu and a Coconut Rice paired with wine from Monsoon Valley which they say are made in a style that compliments Thai food, enhancing and maximizing the flavours… Take a look at the photos below and try not to drool.
Believe it or not, we had just enough space in our tummies to enjoy a dessert together. We opted for the Banana Chic Chic (baked banana and honey, wrapped in a warm crepe), perfect for sharing and just the right amount of sugar to perk you up after your main meal.
You can also enjoy a wide range of cocktails at Thai Square, which you can purchase by the pitcher or glass along with spirits, beers, wines and bubbly… plus, if you are feeling adventurous, why not try one of the Thai special cocktails such as the Godzilla or Muay Thai!
