Shootings, gang fights, rumors, controversy all plagued the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards on Saturday night Sept. 29, 2012.

The Good

Rapper LL Cool J paid homage in remarks to entertainment executive Chris Lighty, who he says helped shape his career and many others in hip-hop. After Cool J spoke, rappers Q-Tip, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott and 50 Cent took the stage to perform.

The show was highlighted by several freestyle sessions that included rapper T.I., B.o.B., Snoop Dogg, E-40 and Cassidy. Others who performed included Rick Ross, P. Diddy, 2 Chainz and Future.

The Bad

Kanye West was nominated for 17 awards and didn’t show up. Ooops!

The Ugly

Young Jeezy and Rick Ross beef. The fracas, began in the corridor of both acts green rooms, then spilled into the parking lot. Shots were fired however no arrests or injuries were made.
