Mercurial, majestic and masterful.

Steve Ellison aka Flying Lotus is a rapper, producer and artist extraordinaire who resonates with all the energy of a hydrogen bomb throughout the musical world, resisting genre categorisation and creating cerebral magic through sound and video.

Now on his fifth album in 8 years or so the latest album You’re Dead (2014) his highest charting project, once again sees him flying the flag for experimental, occasionally avant-garde music that knows no boundaries-significantly this album features lyrics from the man himself (a first as Flying Lotus).

Off the album Lotus drops the visuals for the amazing Never Catch Me  directed by Hiro Murai whose wonderfully atmospheric and cinematic interpretations adds that extra dimension-the dancing kids in the video are amazing as the somberness of their death (as seen by their loved ones in the video) is juxtaposed by the bountiful exuberance they exhibit as free youthful spirits.

Musically Lotus goes through the gears on the track as we are engulfed by a clean production of; horns, classic piano (Herbie Hancock), snares, synths and a rolling beat all while Kendrick Lamar drops his emotionally charged and rapier like lyrical delivery.

Never Catch Me is Flavour’s track of the week-enjoy!
