We’ve teamed up with BritJam to give one lucky Flavour reader the chance to visit the lovely island of Jamaica for BritJam 2012. Jamaica is a tourist hot spot celebrated for its sun, sea and sand. Let’s not forget reggae music and amazing Caribbean food…

BritJam is the ultimate party holiday for all wanting to escape to Jamaica. From March 6-12, spring breakers from all over the world head for Montego Bay for seven days and six nights of nonstop beach fun, pool parties, theme nights, day trips, boat cruises, concerts and much more! Here are just a few things that you can do on this beautiful Caribbean island.

Bobsledding at Mystic Mountain Rainforest Adventures Ever seen the film Cool Runnings and imagined sledding down the ice track at super high speeds?
Then Mystic Mountain in Ocho Rios is for you. Inspired by the famous Jamaican Olympic bobsled team, it’s the ultimate bobsledding experience. Safely strapped in a specially made sled, you’ll be whooshed through 3,280ft of twists and turns down a track built on a mountain, overseeing one of Jamaica’s beautiful rainforests.

Dolphin Cove
With locations in Ocho Rios and Negril, this is the largest natural dolphin lagoon in the world. Visitors have the opportunity to swim with dolphins and sharks, as well as feed them and learn about the evolutionary secrets of these intelligent marine mammals and fish. Other attractions include snorkelling with stingrays, and rides aboard glass-bottom kayaks, where you can check out the fascinating underwater world!

Beaches
Everyone loves the three ‘S’s, or is that four… They are usually most people’s answer to a relaxing holiday. Jamaica has some of the most wonderful beaches in the Caribbean. Why not visit one:

Doctor’s Cave Beach (Montego Bay) has five miles of white sand and its waters are tranquil and crystal clear, making ‘Mo Bay’ a tourist destination and a family favourite. Boston Bay Beach (Port Antonio) has the biggest waves in Jamaica, so why not rent a surfboard and grab a lesson. At Hedonism II (Negril) famous for its nudity, you can be as free as you want. Shed your inhibitions and party naked. Be yourself, or someone else entirely; this beach is for all those Stellas trying to get their groove back.

Appleton Estate Rum Tour
Located in Nassau Valley in St Elizabeth, this is an insight into how the finest rum in the world is made. Guests can enjoy a guided tour where you can visit the distillery and see the copper pot stills that add distinctive character to Jamaica’s famous Appleton Rum. You can also visit the ageing house, where the rums rest in oak barrels for up to 50 years. While you’re there, indulge in a full range of Appleton Estate Jamaica Rums and enjoy a cocktail or two at the bar.

Kool Runnings Water and Adventure Park In the parish of Negril, this wet and wild adventure park is the Caribbean’s premier water attraction. It hosts more than five acres of thrilling water slides, pools and also dry park attractions. There’s the choice of go-karting, kayaking, laser tag, rafting, kanoeeing, and much more. Kool Runnings is a great day out for the whole family. Dunns River Falls The famous falls, with 600ft of climbing rock, is famous for its crystal clear waters that cascade into the beach where the ocean and river meet. It’s known to be the only one of its kind in the Caribbean, and is an amazing example of Jamaica’s natural beauty. Situated in Ocho Rios, it welcomes thousands of visitors all year round. This climbing excursion is fun and suitable for the whole family.

Bob Marley Museum
Take a trip to the capital Kingston and visit the museum situated on the site of the legendary reggae musician’s home. Converted six years after his death in 1981, the museum displays Marley’s personal treasures, as well as a well-equipped 80-seat theatre, a photographic gallery and a gift shop selling T-shirts, posters CDs and other Bob Marley memorabilia.

Prospect Plantation Tour
This is one of Jamaica’s oldest plantations, located in Ocho Rios. The tour of this beautiful agricultural property displays a variety of organic produce, such as bananas, cassava, sugarcane, coffee, allspice and many other crops. Hear delightful stories about the colourful history of the estate. This trip is great for couples wanting a cultural, relaxed experience.
