Research by Kinky Panda has found that nearly half of UK millennials are using harmful vibrators.

There is currently a boom in sales and popularity with millions of sex toys sold worldwide every year, but shocking research by Kinky Panda has found that 45% of UK millennial’s are using toxic sex toys.

The study which surveyed 5,000, 18-30 year old, male and females, found that nearly half of all the respondent’s vibrators contained harmful chemicals, such as BPA and phthalates. These damaging compounds are not only endocrine disruptors but can cause issues including infertility, breast cancer and heart disease.

Further research, from the online adult marketplace, found that millennials would rather purchase cheap sex toys than expensive products, which could explain why 18-30-year-old Brits are being exposed to these harmful chemicals.

According to Kinky Panda’s co-founder, Cait Harris, “Cheap vibrators are usually made from cheap plastic, which can cause severe health issues. Despite the European Union banning phthalates in children’s toys, there is no ban in place for adult toys. It’s also important for consumers to be aware that it’s not as simple as looking at a product’s description to see what materials have been used, as brands can legally use words like “skin safe” due to the lack of health regulations for sex toys.”.

Cait continued, “For those looking to buy a toy, you should research the brand and only buy products from a reputable retailer. At Kinky Panda, we only sell body-safe and non-porous toys, which are safe and fun too!”.
