Just a quick visit to the nearest pub could see you trudging up muddy hills or slipping on wet cobbles, so it’s always a good idea to bring a sturdy pair of shoes that will prevent any discomfort or embarrassing falls!

Waterproof Clothing

So you’re visiting the Lake District in summer? Good for you! But you still need waterproofs. That’s right, although you might believe you’re safe, the Lake District is renowned as being one of the dampest places in England (and judging by the rest of England, that’s really saying something). In this way, a comfortable, reliable waterproof jacket is an absolute essential to shield yourself from the elements and keep yourself warm and dry.

Hiking Sustenance

If you are thinking about hiking around the Lake District (because let’s be honest, if you’re in the Lake District, why wouldn’t you?) then you need to make sure you are prepared. Of course, your walking boots and waterproofs are a go, but you also need to think about your physical health. High-energy snacks such as fruit, cereal bars and nuts are an absolute necessity if you are hiking, and a reusable water bottle is also needed to stay hydrated whilst you’re on the move.

First Aid

Last but certainly not least, it would be a good idea to bring along a first aid kit on your travels. Don’t worry, the Lake District isn’t full of landscapes and wildlife that mean you harm, but it is naturally more hazardous than most places, especially if you are planning to be out and about in nature a lot. It is important, therefore, that you bring a first aid kit and ensure that you are prepared if you or any members of your group encounter bumps, grazes or falls.
