Now Flavourmag loves a lie in as much as anyone else, but we were surprised to find out a whopping 50% of young Brits aged between 18 and 24 stated they love having a ‘duvet day’ when off work – so spending the entire day in bed.

That was one of the findings, when deal site aggregator site Bownty asked 1,000* Brits of different ages, which activities they most like doing on their treasured days off.

And it appears the younger you are, the lazier you might be, when not hard at work.

In comparison, just 11% of Brits at the other end of the age spectrum, between 55 and 64 and a lower 25% of Brits asked overall, like to stay in bed on days off.

Even more young Brits sit in front of the box when off work, with 57% stating they like to watch TV or series box sets. This figure compares to 38% of the total of all ages asked and a much lower 28% of those questioned who were aged between 55 and 64.

Social butterflies

It seems younger Brits could be more social though, on the whole. As 52% of 18 to 24 year old Brits see friends on days off, compared to 35% of Brits asked overall. Also 24% of18 to 24 year olds play sport with others, compared to 11% overall, and 38% of like dining and drinking out, compared to 29% of Brits overall.

Family time

The older generation is more likely to spend time with family however, with 58% of 55 to 64 year olds preferring this option, compared to a lower 42% of those aged between 18 and 24.

Trying new things

Bownty also found almost a quarter of young Brits (between 18 to 24) at 23%, like to learn a new skill or improve an existing one on days off work – the most in any age group asked. Plus 18% of young Brits like to travel to new cities, compared to 14% of Brits overall. And 17% of young Brits like trying out new recipes at home.

Me time

Some Brits use days off to really focus on themselves however. Almost one in ten aged between 18 to 24 – at 9%, visit a spa or get pampered with a treatment on a day off, compared to a much lower 5%, of all age groups combined.
