Super Troopers 3 Trailer Drops: Broken Lizard Returns with Wedding Chaos and Drug Busts

The cult comedy franchise roars back with a third outing, blending family wedding drama with the Broken Lizard crew’s signature absurdist humour.

More than two decades after the Vermont highway patrol comedy became a stoner-culture touchstone, Broken Lizard’s Super Troopers 3 has finally unveiled its first trailer—and it looks like the gang haven’t mellowed one bit. Jay Chandrasekhar directs again, reuniting the five-strong comedy troupe for another round of moustache-twirling mayhem.

Wedding Bell Blues

The plot this time? Farva’s “wildly over-the-top” Indian engagement to Thorny’s sister spirals spectacularly out of control. While Thorny plots to sabotage the relationship, the troopers find themselves juggling family dysfunction with genuine police work—specifically, cracking a “pernicious new drug ring.” It’s classic Super Troopers fare: low-stakes law enforcement meets high-stakes ridiculousness.

Familiar Faces, Fresh Blood

Brian Cox returns as Captain John O’Hagan, alongside Marisa Coughlan reprising her role as Ursula Hanson. The cast expands with Hannah Simone (New Girl), Nat Faxon, Chace Crawford from The Boys, and SNL’s Andrew Dismukes joining the fold. Searchlight Pictures is backing the production—a studio with serious pedigree, even if this franchise thrives on being delightfully un-serious.

The original Super Troopers earned its cult status through sheer quotability and a willingness to lean into absurdism without winking too hard at the audience. Whether the third instalment can recapture that lightning-in-a-bottle chemistry remains to be seen, but judging by the trailer, Broken Lizard aren’t interested in growing up. And frankly, that’s probably for the best.
