If the rest of the series is about intensity, Saturday 22 August is about joy. Purple Disco Machine takes the riverside stage with a bill built entirely around good times.
Some line-ups need explaining. This one really does not. Purple Disco Machine has spent years perfecting a very specific kind of alchemy, taking disco’s warmth and running it through modern house production until it lands somewhere both nostalgic and completely current. On an open-air site by the Thames in late August, that is close to ideal casting.
The bill
Flight Facilities bring their own brand of sun-soaked, effortlessly cool electronica, the kind that suits a golden-hour slot better than almost anything. Jayda G is one of the most joyful selectors working, a DJ who treats a dancefloor as somewhere to be delighted rather than tested. David Bay b2b Julia Sandstrom handle the earlier stretch and special guest Kirollus completes it.
Taken together it is the most straightforwardly fun day of the Open-Air series, and the one to bring people to who do not usually do this sort of thing.

Magazine sits on Greenwich Peninsula, five minutes on foot from North Greenwich on the Jubilee line and under half an hour from central London. The same links that serve The O2 bring you straight to the door, with easy connections from London Bridge, Liverpool Street and Stratford. Made for the setting
Disco-leaning house needs air and space, which is precisely what this site offers: a roofless dancefloor, a bespoke stage designed by Paris studio Matière Noire, and seven hours to move from afternoon sunshine into a lit-up London skyline. Food and drink comes from Shapes Bar, Mangal II and a line-up of London independents.
