Alexia Coley is a girl who has been preparing her whole life for what 2014 has presented her. Three single releases on limited edition 7” vinyl have brought her music to the attention of the likes of BBC 6 Music, Radio 2 and BBC London and now her debut album is recorded, mixed and ready to release in October of this year.
Her music has a classic soul and jazz vibe, simultaneously retro and modern, but with the edge of a girl who has grown up round Ladbroke Grove and taken in the sights and sounds of modern day London.
Alexia Coley’s single ‘Drive Me Wild’ (Video above) is out now and her debut album ‘Keep The Faith’ is out on 6th October.
We asked her those all important dating questions, just in case you manage to see her at a performance and get chance to speak to her. So boys and girls have your note pads on the ready.
What’s your ideal first date?
I’d like to go a theme park or funfair to see how much of a dare devil my date is.
What are the things you shouldn’t talk about on a first date?
I don’t think it’s wise to talk about past relationships; it’s not relevant to your future.
Who is the last person on earth, you would go on a date with?
A friend’s past/present boyfriend, husband or lover. I’m loyal to my partners and my friends.
What was your biggest misconception with men while you where growing up?
That all men have the qualities I admire & respect in my Dad. He’s my number one male role model. I understand now that he’s one of a kind!
On a bad date, what’s your exit strategy?
My friend will ring half an hour into the date.. if I pick up, then it’s emergency goodbye. See you later mate!
Do girls really kiss and tell?
The good, yes and the bad ones eventually!
What features do you look for in a man?
Intelligence, humour, honesty, trustworthiness, loyalty, compassion & self-sufficiency.
Do you believe in splitting the bill on the first date?
I do if you’re not interested, otherwise allow the gentleman to pay.
