Victoria Park opens its gates for four days of live music, sports, theatre, and family activities all completely free from 24–27 August.
East London’s Victoria Park is throwing open its gates once again for In The Neighbourhood, the free community festival that’s become as much a part of All Points East as the headline acts themselves. Running from Monday 24 August through Thursday 27 August, the four-day programme packs in live music, sports, theatre, and everything in between—without charging a penny.
Doors open at noon on Monday 24 August, then 10am daily from Tuesday onwards, and the lineup is seriously stacked. Expect Trojan Sound System bringing the reggae heat, DJ Yoda’s 90s Mixtape Live for nostalgic vibes, stage takeovers from Café 1001 and Rich Mix, plus DJ Kizzi from BBC Asian Network and the Grand Union Orchestra. It’s the kind of eclectic musical palette that reflects the borough itself.
Fitness, Football, and Family Fun
Beyond the decks, there’s a huge range of activities designed to get people moving. House of Voga blends yoga, vogue, and fitness into one high-energy class, while sessions from Move Studio London, OpenMat Pilates, Jess Owen Yoga, and Be Well leisure services (run by Tower Hamlets Council) cater to all fitness levels. Football fans can join free sessions hosted by West Ham FC Foundation, and there’s also Limehouse Boxing, Tower Hamlets Hockey, and a Girls Allowed Sports Day.
Families are well catered for, too. Half Moon Theatre—Whitechapel’s leading young people’s venue—brings live shows for ages birth to 18 (25 for young people with disabilities). Baby Sensory Hackney offers bubbles, lights, and music for the little ones, while East London’s Wrap A Hug supports new and expectant parents on-site. The Big Draw invites all ages to flex their creative muscles, and there’s free cinema screenings plus cultural workshops from Tamarind Theatre, Queen of Sheba Somali Poetry & Dance, Community of Vietnam, and Off The Chest Poetry open mics.
A Festival Built on Community
Councillor Minara Khatun, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, called it “a fantastic opportunity for residents and visitors to come together, soak up the sunshine, and experience the incredible diversity, creativity and community spirit.” The event sits neatly between the festival’s main weekend dates—which this year include Jorja Smith, Tems, Lorde, Deftones, Tyler, The Creator, and Twenty One Pilots—but it’s very much its own thing, created in collaboration with Tower Hamlets Council and local organisations.
Entry and all activities are completely free. Head to the official In The Neighbourhood page for the full schedule and plan your visit before the gates open on 24 August.
