From the team that launched The Marylebone comes a brand new cocktail bar concept and a first for London. Barsmith is the brainchild of Ben Avigdori and Lawrence Santi, the duo behind The Marylebone Leisure Group which is becoming famous for its pubs & bars serving kick-arse infusion cocktails!
Barsmith, at 18-20 St John Street, London EC1 opened at the start of September. This vibrant and relaxed all day bar will specialise in house-infused spirits and cocktails, each crafted and created by a team of leading London mixologists and served with a flourish of fun and a hint of eccentricity; expect treasure chest cocktails with a curl of dry ice and curious cocktail-filled soup cans! Each of the finely tuned cocktails on the menu is £7.95 making them a really accessible way to enjoy a high end cocktail experience. Launching their first site in Farringdon, do not be surprised to see this impressive concept expand throughout the capital.
Highlights from the cocktail list include the decadent Milky Way – homemade white chocolate vodka, coupled with their coffee rum, amaretto and organic cream for a debauched finish; the zesty Hot Stuff Baby – homemade citrus infused vodka, blended with carrot juice, egg white and muddled with stem ginger and chilli and a new classic The Barsmith – rum infused with ginger and honey, with a little lychee and lime juice, peppered with mint leaves and perfected with ginger beer. Being a ginger beer lover the Barsmith was my favourite, you can taste the premium alcohol through the warming ginger beer and it comes presented in a really quirky fabric laced glass.
The infusions which include chilli gin, ginger and honey rum, orange tequila and white chocolate vodka are all created in a custom built laboratory in central London. The team of skilled cocktail craftsmen at Barsmith ensure that all the infusions are of the highest possible quality, with all the fresh produce such as fruit, herbs and berries coming fresh from New Covent Market each morning.
To soak it all up the kitchen will be offering a selection of Italian influenced small plates and authentic thin crust pizzas topped with Neapolitan tomatoes, Buffalo mozzarella and a variety of fresh toppings, whilst cured meats and cheeses will be available from the deli counter. The Nduja pizza is particularly impressive, combining tomato, mozzarella, spicy nduja sausage and pancetta it is the perfect accompaniment to the delicious cocktails.
Barsmith will also play host to musicians on a weekly basis, with live acoustic singers performing on Thursdays 7-10pm and a DJ every Friday from 7pm-1am.
Barsmith is open Monday – Saturday, 11am until late.#18-20 St John Street, Farringdon
