You’d think that having a sibling who is famous would instantly open doors for you, but Ligaya Buena, who is the younger sister of ex-Sugababe Mutya says that’s not the case.

The 17-year-old model and actress says ‘I have to go through the same process as any other model and I would prefer to be known for the work that I have done,’ instead of riding off the back of her sister’s success.

That’s a good work ethic to have in an industry that is so cut throat. With a lead role in a music video and a forthcoming part in a Channel 4 reality show her drive; talent and exotic look are sure to take her far. Here the North West Londoner tells us what she does to maintain her fabulous looks.

What are some of your essential beauty items?
I’d have to say mascara and Vaseline, can’t live without these items. And you wouldn’t really need anything else.

What products do you use in your hair?

Hmm it depends really I haven’t got a particular type of product I tend to change my mind and try new things. But I tried various products like Tony and Guy hair products and L’Oreal.

Since you decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry has your beauty and fitness regime changed?
It hasn’t really changed. I’ve always had the routine of going to the gym and doing exercise. It’s one of my hobbies as it makes me feel better.

What fragrance do you wear?

Sarah Jessica-Parker. I wear that perfume all the time.

What designers do you like to wear?

I don’t have any particular designers that I always wear. I enjoy trying anything that is new in the fashion industry. But I’m fond of wearing Addidas. They seem to create something to wear for different occasions.

Who are your beauty icons?
Angelina Jolie is someone that I think is stunning. She has a unique look that makes her stand out. It is quite rare you find another person with the same look as her. Another icon would have to be my older sister Mutya Buena. I think she’s a beautiful woman and had a unique look from a very young age. I have always looked up to her.

What’s unique about your look and style?
I’d have to say the thing that is unique about me would be my appearance as I am from a mixed background [Spanish, Filipino, Chinese and Irish] and I guess I can pull off a lot of looks, whether it’s oriental or European. I’ll say my eyes are quite unique too; they show the oriental side of my family.

What can we expect from you in the future?
I’ve been doing music videos and photo shoots which are going well. I will be doing work abroad and I have also got television opportunities available for me in the up coming year so hopefully that follows through.
