August Alsina was crowned “Best New Artist” at this years BET Awards so here at Flavourmag we have decided to tell you all you need to know about the up and coming star.
August has already teamed up with some of the biggest names in the music business right now including the likes of Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Fabolous, Jeezy and many more! With that said, this dude is clearly someone to pay close attention too. His name is without a doubt about to become a Hip Hop/RnB house hold name and his music will soon be topping charts all across the world.
The 21 year old singer/songwriter was born and raised in New Orleans and is signed to popular, well-known label Def Jam. Life however wasn’t easy for August when growing up. His father and step father were both Crack Cocaine addicts and he lost his older brother to a gun shot in 2010. All this negativity pushed the singer to focus on music even more…and here at Flavourmag we are glad he did.
August released his debut album “Testimony” in April this year where it peaked at number 1 on the US Hip Hop/RnB chart and number 10 on the UK RnB chart. His latest release is new single “Benediction” feat rapper Rick Ross and the official videos debut dropped on Sunday 30th June.
Not only did August beat the likes of Ariana Grande, Mack Wilds, Rich Homie Quan and ScHoolboy Q to BET’s “Best New Artist” award he also delivered a sick performance with his rumoured enemy Trey Songz and, recently released from jail, Chris Brown. The crowd went wild and he proved why the award was well deserved.
If you don’t know about August Alsina we recommend you do your research asap as his music is a must have on the iPod.
