Charlotte OC talks new EP, tour & fashion

Charlotte OC is a force to be reckoned with. Her powerful vocals soar through mysterious sonic landscapes and land beautifully in our ears.

We think that her latest single off her brand new EP “Burning” is an absolute killer and hopefully so will you once you’ve listened to it right here:

The British singer songwriter is now preparing to go on tour in April and we were lucky enough to catch up with her before she sets off!

You’re about to head out on Communion’s New Faces tour in April, what can people that are coming to see you expect from the show?

My show has a slight drama to it , and its mainly based around my vocal.

For people that don’t know you, how would you describe your music?

Soul, Electronic, Blues.

Your EP “Burning” is also about to drop next week, what are some of the inspirations behind it?

I wrote if my house was burning about all the idiots I’ve met in the music industry. “On and on” I actually dreamt the melody, woke up recorded into my phone and wrote it the next day.

You’ve worked with some amazing producers on this last EP, could you tell us a bit about what that’s been like and what you’ve enjoyed the most about recording the EP?

For the “Burning EP”, it was exciting just getting the production together for them and seeing them grow into the state they are in now. “On and on” was just piano and vocal when I first made it, then I started working with the brilliant Rich Cooper and he helped bring it alive.

As an artist, would you say you feel most at home in the studio or on the stage?

Both really. Both can be very scary places but when things fall into place, they can both be very home-like.

You’ve had a lot of experience in the industry for someone so young, what would you say has been the most valuable lesson so far?

I’m still learning everyday, but if you couldn’t do music, what would you do? God knows. I dread to think. I’m genuinely useless at everything that isn’t music related!

There seems to be a lot going on right now, what are you most excited about in the next few months?

I just got back from SXSW, which was so much fun but took the life out of me.
I’m excited for this tour of course and I’m excited to play in the UK again: Secret Garden Party, heading to New York for Governors Ball and just finishing off my album.

You are very beautiful and have a unique sense of fashion, how would you describe your style?

Thank you very much 🙂 My fashion sense is slightly other-worldy, dramatic, floaty. Dark with splashes of gold. Slightly 70s inspired

What’s your favourite place to shop?

I love Zara, Acne and there are some great vintage shops in LA or if I don’t want move anywhere, I turn to Asos.

What’s your favourite make up brand?

Mac, Bobby Brown, Chanel, I love them all.

Do you find it hard being a female musician with the old term “Sex Sells”?

I just don’t entertain it.
