End Of An Era: Why We’ll Miss ‘T4’

All good things must come to an end!

The final episode of T4 had plenty of tears and laughs from some of the programmes best loved presenters. There was an on screen reunion, which seemed a fitting end to T4’s 14-year run with former hosts  Rick Edwards, Miquita Oliver, Vernon Kay and Alexa Chung  all returning to say their goodbyes.

Since 1998, the programme has helped to kick start the careers of current and former presenters, including existing anchors Nick Grimshaw and Jameela Jamil, who have now landed primetime shows on BBC Radio 1.

Back to the start: Vernon Kay and June Sarpong first hosted the show in the early 90s

Rather than spending the final show sulking, the gang reminisced about their favourite memories. Considering all the shenanigans of the past decade, it was a pretty entertaining ending. While Channel 4 has axed the T4 brand, there are certain elements of the show’s, um, unique banter that will be missed.

First and foremost, we’ll all be without weekly exposure to their gritty celebrity interviews, including signature games and pretty much encouraging celebrities to let their hair down and do childish stuff. And we’ll all have to deal with the absence of their dedication in waking us up every weekend. Hangover or no hangover, that’s lots of work.

Lastly, the presenter’s drollness will no doubt be missed. No matter how many inane activities, they indulged in we all seemed to actually like them even more. So will Jamella, Nick, Will, Georgie, Matt and the crew all live happily ever after? Stay tuned, because lets be honest, this is not the last we’ve heard of T4 yet, like totally.
