Kranium

Flavourmag spoke to Kranium about the Ends Festival, the love he gets from the UK and more.

I have a special place in my heart for the UK. I always have fun when I’m here, and I’m amazed at the dancehall culture and the way the UK reacts to me when I come over. I truly feel that the UK plays a major part in the dancehall culture outside of Jamaica.

Kranium, real name, Kemar Donaldson is a guy that has made the term ‘undercover lovers’ sound so sexy. His hit track ‘Nobody Has To Know’ ft. Ty Dolla $ign has amassed over 63MILLION views on youtube and is a party banger in clubland.

When asked about the UK artists he is feeling right now, Kranium says,

I’ve got a lot of love for UK artists, I have worked with some and I’m looking forward to working with more. If I’m in the UK and catching a vibe, I’ll happily jump on a track with UK artists. I love Kojo Funds music, he is a friend of mine and I have worked with him before, I love Chip, Skepta, Giggs, I’m feeling WSTRN, to name a few, the UK music scene is Dope.

Kranium will be performing live on the Saturday of the Ends Festival. Wizkid, Kojo Funds and Maleek Berry are also performing on the same day too and all of the above artists have songs with Kranium. When asked if we will see Kranium collab with these artists on stage too? Kranium went silent for a moment and said, you’ll have to wait and see, but you know I always bring the energy to the stage… We then asked, what’s the most fun you’ve had on a video shoot? Kranium replied,

That’s a good question, hmm, I really loved ‘Nobody Has To Know’ but in terms of fun, I think it would have to be, maybe, ‘Can’t Believe’, because of the location and the vibes, rolling with Ty and WizKid and the all the beautiful ladies. It was vibes non-stop.

Speaking of ladies, we asked Kranium what is the funniest or weirdest thing a fan has ever said or done to him. Kranium laughed and asked, how raw can he be with his answer lol, and then said, wait, actually, I’ve got it…

The weirdest thing a fan has done to me… A girl ‘licked my knee-cap’ one time lol, (giggles), I was looking at her like… A wha yu ah do? Lol, but then I just thought OK lol. It was weird and funny at the same time.

So, for all you Kranium fans out there, if you want to get noticed by the man himself, you’re going to have to do something more extravagant than licking his knee-cap. We swiftly moved onto a few quick-fire questions. Kranium had to choose only one answer.

  1. Jamaica or America? Pause….. Jamaica!
  2. Jerk Chicken or Fried Chicken? ‘I don’t eat meat’. Ok, Jerk Fish or Fried Fish? Fried, escovitch style!
  3. Stalag Riddim or Sleng Teng Riddim… Jeeeeze that’s hard… That’s a big choice… Sleng Teng!

Tickets for the Ends Festival are on sale now from Live Nation, so head on over there and get your tickets now.

But wait, there’s more. One of the girls in our office loves Kranium’s song ‘Stamina’, and he even sang us a few bars. What a gentleman, eh?
