Flowers are the new cats – they are everywhere

You cannot call yourself a true fashionista if you have never noticed how floral prints tend to come back spring after spring and if you do not recognize the famous phrase “Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking” from the Devil Wears Prada.

Flowers, once again, are blooming big time. This spring they can literally be found everywhere, from dresses to trousers, from accessories to shoes. They were on the Spring 2014 runways of every major designer, from Alberta Ferretti to Marc Jacobs, and they have almost taken up the whole collection designed by the great Oscar de la Renta. I can’t believe that there is a single girl out there who does not own at least one item, even the tiniest one, with some flowers on it.

How can we make it look fresh and new for this spring? Let’s have a look at how our most beloved celebs are doing it!

Eastern feel
Cara Santana has decided to go for an eastern feel with this floral look that she has worn during an event in L.A. organized by Nylon magazine and Nicole Miller. She has decided to wear a skirt with both horizontal stripes and flowers that hits just below the knee together with a floral blouse and a pair of Louboutin shoes.

To complete this outfit, she has gone for a tight updo that is still in line with the Asian feel of the look. Very sophisticated! On Asos offers many and tops that are similar to what Cara is wearing above. You can have a look and find the style that suits you the best.

Little Floral Dress
After the LBD and the LWD there is now a new one to add to the list: the LFD, which is the little floral dress! Kerry Washington has worn this one by Stella McCartney during the Project Runway fashion show together with a pair of bright red shoes and no accessories.

In her angelic simplicity she has definitely made an impression! Boden – a great British fashion label, has many good-quality-fabric floral dresses (at times you can buy some off these dresses for less with Boden vouchers).

Gothic feel with romantic twist
Florals were strong at the Golden Globes. Especially thanks to Kaley Cuoco, who has worn this stunning Rani Zakhem Couture. It stole the scene on the famous red carpet!

Monochromatic florals
When we talk about florals, it doesn’t necessarily mean bright colours! You can also wear florals if you prefer to go for a monochromatic look. Katy Perry made a really chic appearance at the Chanel Spring/Summer 2014 runway show wearing these beautifully matched black and white floral prints.

Even if they are very different patterns and in other situations we may think they could clash, she has worn them in a way that is very cutting-edge and sophisticated. A round of applause for her choice!

Floral combo
Floral combos are also very strong! Noomi Rapace has gone for a great combination of classic trousers and a blazer with the same floral pattern as her sandals, and a very simple black t-shirt.

An incredibly balanced outfit that looks super chic. Boohoo has a beautiful selection of floral combos with a statement.

NB! Always remember to balance your outfit like Noomi, wearing something neutral with it so not to go too over the top.
