The new Ford Focus Active is the car that Ford should have made years ago. Sleek lines, sleek interior design and a punchy unbelievably quick 1.0L engine.
Truth be told, I haven’t felt like this about a Ford Focus in a very long time. Truth be told, I still miss the Ford Escort and some of the Ford Focus’ simply haven’t cut the mustard for me. However, this has now all changed with the launch of the new Ford Focus Active.
The new Ford Focus Active is a crossover vehicle, half SUV, half hatchback and I love it. When it arrived for my 1-week test drive, I was taken aback by its sleek styling and sleek interior. I then sat in the car and felt the materials and dashboard and thought to myself ‘Ford has really hit the nail on the head with this one’.
Cars of this price range and engine size can sometimes feel a bit plasticky. They can something feel a tad cheap and you can easily notice where the manufacturer has had to do penny-pinching exercise on the car to keep the costs down. This is completely untrue about the Ford Focus Active. It feels quality, it feels like it costs a lot more than it should, it drives like it costs a lot more than it should and it definitely looks like it costs a lot more than it should.
Then came the moment I started the engine. I fired up the 1.0-litre engine and took it for a spin. It’s surprisingly fast, the 1.0-litre engine effortlessly pulled this vehicle as if it was a 2.0-litre engine. Outstandingly sturdy, firm and well balanced, the Ford Ford Active drives like a treat. This car is honestly one of the most enjoyable 1.0-litre rides that I have had the pleasure of driving in a very long time.
In summary, the new Ford Focus Active is one of the best Ford Focus’ to date. It has everything you will need and want from a car in the category and gives you more bang for your buck. Everything from boot space to inside space along with touch screen display and sleek styling inside and out, the new Ford Focus Active delivers all on points.
