How to be a boss at online dating in 2018 and multiply your matches (newsflash: the dog filter is out!)

How to be a boss at online dating in 2018

Did you know that 29% of men automatically right swipe when they see a woman using the Snapchat dog face filter AKA the basic filter?

According to a study conducted by the world’s leading dating app, Badoo, there are certain triggers when it comes to users swiping left and right…

For example, men looking to meet the match of their dreams online should look to avoid posting: shirtless photos, snaps taken in the gym, mirror selfies and pictures with an attractive woman (basically, even if you think you look good in it – it’s time to ditch the pic with your ex!).

In total contrast to the women surveyed, men do seem to like photos taken in the gym, full-length pictures and women posing for mirror selfies.

Interestingly, both men and women find photos of one another set in the countryside most appealing, while (not so shockingly) men are also more likely to become interested in a woman if there’s a shot of them in a bikini.

25% of women will only swipe right if a man ticks all the boxes, with appealing pictures, similar interests and an interesting or entertaining bio – whereas 22% of men swipe on the first photo they see. Only 12% of men will check bio.

The research also showed that the older we get, the pickier we become. Younger adults are much more likely to swipe right on the basis of looks alone.
