How To Get Ready For A Special Occasion

special occasions

So, you’ve got a big event coming up. You want to feel your best. But how do you prep like a boss to make sure you feel 100% on the big day?

Here, we look at what you should do and when to make sure you look and feel amazing.

One Week Before

Time to get your skin glowing. If you’re wearing a glamorous outfit that exposes your legs, arm or chest, you’ll want to make sure your skin is super soft and smooth. So get scrubbing! Use a good quality body exfoliator to get rid of any dry skin patches. Brands like Neom Organics do a beautiful selection of scrubs with essential oils, sugar and softening oils. They’ll make your skin feel, look and smell amazing!

Four Days Before

If you colour your hair, now’s the time to get it freshened up. Avoid waiting until a day or two before the event, as you won’t have time to fix any hair mishaps! Book an appointment with your favourite stylist to touch up roots and liven up the colour. It’s also worth doing an intensive hair treatment such as a conditioning mask, to give it some extra shine.

Three Days Before

Spend some time on your skin. Although you may be tempted, don’t do any strong exfoliating treatments as it can make your skin tender and flushed. Instead, book in for a hydrating facial to make sure your skin looks dewy and fresh. If this isn’t an option, you can do this at home. Simply pop on your favourite rich moisturiser and rub into your skin in circular motions to increase the blood flow.

Two Days Before

If you like to boost your confidence with a little fake tan, then now’s the time to get this done. To avoid streaky patches (a tanner’s worst nightmare) then opt for a professional spray tan to ensure everywhere is covered. Doing this now will give the tan enough time to develop and settle down before the event.

One Day Before

Now it’s time for nails! A gel manicure or pedicure is always a great option as it is less likely to chip before or during the event. Cut and file your nails into your desired shape, push back your cuticles and get rid of any dry skin on the fingers. If you do choose gel, then make sure you buff the nails beforehand to make them nice and even.

Finally, get a good night’s sleep! You’re most likely to look and feel amazing after a great kip, so get into bed early and catch some all-important Z’s.
