Images of Black Women (IBW) Film Festival has acted for nearly a decade as the only advocate for change in the representation of black women in film; presenting the global black experience with a focus on women experience and representation, offering alternative images of a figure still very much invisible, in front – as actresses – as well as behind the camera as directors, screenwriters and producers.

To mark its 9th anniversary, the festival has expanded to deliver a 9-day festival instead of its usual 3 days and takes place 3rd to 11th May 2013 at various venues across London. In addition IBW has also become a platform for artists with its art exhibition “Feminine Expressions & Representations”, which will showcase selected photographs and paintings from female artists, as well as from artists representing women.
