Talented singer-songwriter Jake Quickenden rose to prominence on last years X-Factor where he along with six other candidates which included the now 2012 winner James Arthur, finalists Rylan Clark and Jahméne Douglas along with RNB singer Nathan Fagan-Gayle and Adam Burridge went to judges houses under the mentorship of Nicole Scherzinger.

It was a pretty tough category and even Jake predicted James Arthur to win. It was also a difficult time personally for the singer as his younger brother Oliver had recently passed away from cancer. Despite this Jake soldiered on at judges houses but unfortunately wasn’t chosen to go onto the live show. Not deterred by this set back, Jake has amassed over 100, 000 fans on Twitter and is currently releasing music independently.

When Jake arrived at ICandy Studios the first thing you notice is how handsome he is, the second is that he’s very humble when talking about himself and his achievements and the third is that he’s very faithful and loves his girlfriend who he talked a lot about. Watch his exclusive live session and interview to find out more about this rising talent from Scunthorpe.

On what he’s been up to since leaving the show
I’m now trying to do my own thing and write my own stuff and get out there. I haven’t heard from Nicole since I left. I speak to Lucy Spraggan, Rylan and Ella ..I know how busy they all are.

On James Arthur
I think the right person won. When I got home I said to my mum that there was a guy at boot camp whose voice is amazing and that I probably won’t go back because he’s probably going to win it and he did end up winning it.

On handling female attention
When girls come up to me I’m just polite and let them know from the beginning that I have a girlfriend.

On his tattoos
None of my tattoos really mean anything. Although my little brother passed away last September and he had a shirt that he used to always wear. His wife kept the shirt so I got a tattoo with a bird on instead and also I got the words forever tattooed on me as well for my brother.

Jake Quickenden’s single ‘Walk Away’ is out now on iTunes.
