London based US Rapper Johnny Voltik and former Sneaker Pimp David Westlake have just released their brilliant new single on Felt Recordings.

‘What You Wanna Do?’, the first collaboration between these two talented individuals, was recorded between Westlake’s studio in East London and the Felt studio in Soho. The track combines Westlake’s bold beats and Voltik’s unflinching vocal to great effect and is accompanied by an amazing video produced by Fjords Media and directed by Carlotta Merzari. The track is also currently to be heard on the Pepsi Max UEFA Champions League advert.

roducer and drummer, David Westlake was an original member of million-plus selling band Sneaker Pimps and has produced and mixed artists as diverse as Marilyn Manson, Client, Depeche Mode, Ian McCulloch, Leftfield, Placebo amongst others. As a drummer, he has recorded with Marina and the Diamonds, Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs, Jose Gonzales, Emiliana Torrini, Fallulah and Hafdis Huld and is also associated with The Mighty Boosh, having produced the eagerly awaited comic duo’s album.

Originally from Brooklyn, Johnny Voltik arrived in the UK at the end of 2014 and after only a week in the capital was booked to play a series of shows at the famed Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in Soho. Since then he has continued to maintain a live presence across the city and has established his own #WildLive night at the Silver Bullet in Finsbury Park playing to an enthusiastic and ever expanding fanbase. Voltik has previously opened for NERD and Busta Rhymes, and has also shared stages with the likes of as Bjork, Funkadelic, Congo Natty, SubMotion Orchestra, and Foreign Beggars to name a few.

One of the fastest rising stars in Hip Hop, Voltik’s style and sound has in the past been compared to the likes of Flying Lotus, Outkast, Kendrick Lamar, MGMT, Gnarls Barkley and Kanye West.  Johnny Voltik will next appear at a benefit concert for the refugees in Calais hosted by Mic Righteous and also featuring Maverick Sabre and MC Solomon at The Hootananny in Brixton on the 24th of June 2016.
