Melbourne hip-hop artist KOJO SAFFU recently released a music video for “Can’t Stop This”; the lead single release and a taste of what you can expect from his upcoming EP, ‘Musings’.
Kojo Saffu will seek to cement his reputation as a hip-hop talent when he releases Musings in September 2017, after previously releasing the “kOJ” EP and the singles “Ghanaian Australian” and “Over” in previous years.
A pioneer of Australian premier 7 piece Hip-Hop outfit Culture Connect, who supported some of Australia’s best including, Blue King Brown, Diafrix, Resin Dogs and Tzu; Kojo has been lauded by critics as “a lyrical genius and a great freestyler, winning over audiences with his heartfelt testimony and occasional crooning” (Paul Petran, Radio National), and having “good energy, primo beats, charisma and sharp delivery” (Claude Aranui, Groove Magazine).
‘Can’t Stop This’ is a single that blends boom-bap rhymes with an evocative NuSoul hook, to hone in on its overarching message. Kojo explains, “it’s a message for listeners to focus on their self-belief and not to be driven by what motivates others”.
The eclectic ‘Musings’ traverses genres with credited producers, Dizz1, Future Roots & Dustin Maclean. Musings is welcomed release; an introspective project spanning themes of, love, philosophy, vulnerability & strength which provides a great insight into the complex character who is, ‘kOJO’.
The single ‘Can’t Stop This’ and ‘Musings’ EP will be available on all digital platforms, WEDNESDAY 20 SEPTEMBER.
