Live Review: Community Festival 2022

Community Festival returned to Finsbury Park last month with an unforgettable lineup.

Having taken place in London during a UK heatwave, it’s not often you get to swap your raincoats and wellies for suncream and bucket hats and at £45 a ticket, it’s probably the best place to escape busy streets, enjoy the sun and listen to music.

The great thing about festivals is that you get introduced to bands and music you’ve never heard of before.  First on our list of bands to watch was Priestgate. The Yorkshire five-piece had eager music fans crowding 10 minutes before their actual set time for that prized front-row spot and they didn’t disappoint.  Having been compared to The Cure and The Maccabees, the band have merged bright guitar-pop hooks with darker lyrical sensibilities.

Shortly after Priestgate, Alfie Templeman took to the Main Stage. Since we last saw Alfie live, his fanbase has grown rapidly.  Most revellers would have heard of Alife before since he’s no stranger to indie festivals.   From dancing to singing his songs back to him, it’s no doubt Alfie will soon be heading for a headline spot in the future.

and of course, it’s not a festival without catching The Wombats on stage. You can always expect to hear their classic hits like ‘Moving to New York’ and ‘Let’s Dance to Joy Division’ and it’s pretty unlikely you’ll catch anyone not singing along.

If you’re looking for a festival with a good vibe, energetic crowds and just all-around good fun then Community Festival is for you.  Keep your eyes peeled for news for Community Festival 2023 here
