home improvements

Last year research by Swinton Insurance claimed that the average person had blown on average £300 employing tradesmen to carry out minor repairs in their homes when really they could have attempted the job themselves.

Within the same survey only 48% of people felt brave enough to attempt even the simplest of repairs on their property so to help all the DIY novices out there, Ken’s Yard have launched an interactive guide to some of the most common home improvements.

There are, of course, some jobs that are best left to the professionals such as electrical maintenance, as nobody likes crossed wires.

Some of the home improvements included in the guide are:

  • How to wall mount a TV
  • How to correctly hang a door
  • Replacing door handles
  • Fix dripping taps

The guide includes an estimate of the amount of time it should take to complete each task, the difficulty of each process, the tools needed and an accompanying explanatory video tutorial.
