The money that you need to fork out in order to keep your car on the road can seem like a lot at times, especially if some of the recent news headlines in the motoring industry are anything to go on.

For example, the latest research by RAC Fuel Watch revealed that, as of June, the average price for petrol across the UK now stands at 112.17p per litre and the average price of diesel is set at 112.39p per litre.

Simon Williams, the fuel spokesman at RAC Fuel Watch, pointed out: “Filling up with unleaded is now £5.64 more expensive, which is enough to make an unpleasant dent in household budgets up and down the country, especially for those who have more than one car or need to fill up regularly.”

Motorists based in London have also been told by the capital’s Mayor Sadiq Khan that a new £10 emissions charge will be applied to the city in 2017.

Auto Express revealed that the T-charge will be applied to both petrol and diesel vehicles which have pre-Euro 4 emissions standards — many of these are vehicles registered before 2005. It will also be in addition to the existing £11.50 congestion charge that is already in operation across London.
