After some creative time out to work on new material and make changes to her management team, British vocal powerhouse, Alexandra Burke returns with a smashing, new sound and a foxy, new look to boot as she launches RENEGADE – a six-track free download EP which drops on Monday 27th April.

“An artist needs to take full control of what they want to do.”
Make no doubt about it folks, Alexandra isn’t holding anything back with a new-found confidence and musical direction which is firmly rooted in slick, urban beats and honest lyrics. Alexandra reveals she’s never been more focused in her career and is now ready to tell her story.
This is Alexandra Burke as you have never heard her before, fuelled by empowerment and tough life lessons. Talking from her dressing room in Newcastle, where she’s currently performing in the lead role of Rachel Marron in the UK touring production of The Bodyguard, Alexandra is excited to launch her new sound to the masses;
“I’m at a point in my life where I’m in the driving seat and creatively I’m confident enough to express what I would like to put out for the world to hear.”
“My music, my rules.”
RENEGADE is a revealing and powerful track reflective of her recent life experiences with men and her management. Lyrics like; ‘I won’t ever give into rules now that I’m breaking through. I’m taking back all of me from you.’ demonstrate Alexandra has grown not only personally but musically too, and is now more confident and empowered to lay bare her feelings through her music.
The stand out track on the EP for me is GO DOWN which features British singer/producer Shakka – it’s sexy, provocative and has a wicked reggae beat to it paired with Shakka’s iconic vocal effects which will have you playing this tune on loop – I can’t wait to see the music video, it’s a summer slow wine tune for sure!
Siting Rihanna as one of her all-time favourite artists who she would one day love to collaborate with, Alexandra dreams big and with her incredible talent, who’s to say that a collaboration between the two artists couldn’t become a reality?
So what words of advice would Alexandra give to aspiring artists considering a career in music?
“Make sure you love, live and breathe music as it’s [the music industry] no joke. Always be yourself and stay true to who you are.”
Alexandra will be performing two intimate gigs at the Jazz Café in London in September and fans will also be treated to an exclusive Q & A on-stage. So make sure you get your tickets quick and support your girl!
