New York Laser Clinic: Tried and Tested Obagi Face Peel

Now that my summer glow has left my skin looking rather dull and a bit dried out. I wanted to try a facial to make me feel rejuvenated. So, I tried the Obagi blue peel radiance at New York Laser Clinic in Bishopsgate.

Having never had a peel before I was a little apprehensive. However, there was really no need to be as it turns out it wasn’t one of those walking dead type of face peels when half your skin falls off!

First, my lovely therapist, Eva cleansed my face whilst explaining that the Obagi blue peel consists of 20% salicylic acid and this will make my face feel very “tingly” for the first couple of minutes but that feeling will subside. She was right! It felt like my face was on fire. But the feeling soon died down and I stopped internally freaking out.

At the end, after she removed all the products Eva finished my facial by applying the Obagi Professional C- Serum and hydrate moisturiser and topped it off with Obagi Sun shield SPF 50, explaining to me that I need to protect my skin (in general) but over the next couple of days from sun exposure, although this is England, not sure I even remember what sunshine looks like. I was forewarned that dry patches may appear over the next week but maybe because I am such a grease ball that did not happen to me.

The results:

My skin felt extra clean and tight, I was hoping that the facial would help to get rid of some of my congestion or help to minimise my pores but alas this was not the case, in regards to some of my pigmentation problems on my cheek and my fine lines this peel did have a positive effect. Even my colleague remarked I looked “healthier”.

I would recommend this peel if you feel your skin is looking a bit lacklustre and you want a bit of a boost. A great pick me up before the Christmas party season starts.

I asked my therapist for recommendations of products that go along with this facial and here’s what she had to say:

  • Obagi Gentle Cleanser is a great product to cleanse your skin morning and night. It has no active ingredients in it so can be used all the time.
  • Vitamin C serum is a great antioxidant for the skin, protecting it from free radicals and the L-ascorbic acid ensures brighter skin. It is gentle enough for dry and sensitive skin, so is recommended to anyone who has had the peel.
  • Hydrate and Hydrate Luxe are two very good moisturisers from Obagi range. Hydrate is a light moisturiser that I can recommend for any skin day or night. It improves the moisture content of your skin massively. Hydrate Luxe is an amazing product and I normally advise clients to use it in the night because of its rich texture. However, if you have had the Blue Peel Radiance you might find yourself using it during the day as well, as your skin may feel dry.
  • Sun Shield Matte SPF 50 for is the final cream to be applied as part of the morning routine. A good sunscreen is a necessity after having a peel because the skin can become vulnerable to the outside factors that cause damage and needs to protection from UVA and UVB light.

Overall, I would recommend checking out the New York Laser Clinic, they have a vast array of treatments and great service. A big shout out to my therapist Eva she really knows her stuff.
