Ahead of the London premiere of Ant-Man on Wednesday the 8th of July 2015, stars of the film Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Michael Pena and Director Peyton Reed, attended a press conference in the heart of London, to talk about Ant-Man and carry on the laughs from the film with the press.

With the ever increasing popularity in the comic book stories being brought to life for the big screen, the making of Ant-Man was only inevitable in fact Ant-Man has been in actual development since the 80’s. Ant-Man is your normal superhero story in fact with the ability to shrink in size but grow in strength, a con man (Paul Rudd) must help his mentor (Michael Douglas) protect the secret of his Ant-Man suit and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Michael Pena’s character is one of Scott’s friends, becoming acquainted while they were in prison. When asked about their inspiration for their characters personalities, Michael Pena stated that” he based his character on someone that lives in Chicago, who may or not be a criminal, called Pablo” and then proceeded to take out his phone and show us all a clip of this guy he had shot. Just like his character Luis, in the film every line he gave us was delivered with a straight face but had us rolling around with laughter.

Many may wonder what criteria these actors have in order to do these legendary characters justice, Paul Rudd stated that he had read some “Marvel comics as a kid, but he read mostly, English comics that his aunt and uncle used to send over to him such as Beano and Dandy, into Roger the Dodger”.

Ladies, this one is for you, who would have thought Rudd would be a bit of eye candy, but we do witness an extremely toned Rudd, with his shirt off in the film. Paul Rudd stated that to “get fit he actually was very boring for a whole year; he was eating a lot of protein and vegetables and very specific times of the day and not drinks any alcohol so was pretty miserable to be around for a year. If he was in very good shape he wouldn’t feel like an imposter”.

Unfortunately Evangeline Lilly was not present but Michael Douglas revealed that “she is 8 months preggers, but if you stay till the very end credits you’ll be given a little taste of what to come especially with her character”, hinting that there will be an Ant-Man 2.

Even if we didn’t get a definitive answer as to whether there will be an Ant-Man 2, Paul is going to star as Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War which is due for release in 2016 on speaking about that role he said “when he saw Ironman and Captain America in person he got so excited it became all so real”.

Ant-Man is out in UK cinemas of 17th July.
