Some of Europe’s elite street artists are on board with this project. APLA, RIFF, McBess and Conzo will be guiding entrants to the final as they compete for the chance to create the next artwork for the new Umbro and Foot Locker collection, launching nationwide on November 5. Two giants of street culture, Umbro and Foot Locker, are on the hunt for Europe’s best underground artists. A partnership with Secret Walls, a team of established artists including Riff, Conzo, ALPHA and McBess has been assembled to help launch the career of one aspiring artist.
If you have a talent for free drawing, illustration, graffiti or design you can enter at facebook.com/umbro before October 21. You’ll need to upload your best artwork influenced by football culture. Upload your work in the allocated Facebook tab and you are in the running, it’s so simple.
Four rising artists will then be shortlisted to take part in a live battle at East London’s Book Club on October 25. Each artist will have a helping hand from one of Europe’s illustration elite, who will guide and advise them while they battle it out in front of a 400 strong crowd. If that isn’t enough pressure, the whole event will be streamed live at facebook.com/umbro.
As artistic creativity races across four blank canvases, Lethal B will be on hand to perform his latest track exclusively at the live event.
A judging panel including Lethal Bizzle and representatives from Umbro and Foot Locker will select the top two free hand illustrators from the night, to compete in the grand final. Only one artist will draw the grand prize – a rare opportunity to create the advertising campaign for the new Umbro and Foot Locker collection. The advert will be erected in Old Street for two weeks and showcase your work to London’s epicentre of creativity.
