On Saturday 16 February 2013 The New York Comedy Kings consisting of Capone Lee, Talent Harris and Drew Fraser descended on the UK for the first time and for one night only to bring us a night full of laughter at The Troxy in east London.

Comedians Axel, Slim and Felicity Ethnic were the UK support at this post valentines showcase and kicked off the proceedings with Axel as the host. With Felicity’s tails of how she got revenge on a cheating partner and Slim’s revelations as to why all his children’s birthday’s are in the same month the UK collective didn’t fail to conjure up stories and images that left you with belly hurting laughs.

US Acts
Of course it was the second half of the show featuring the US stars that everyone was waiting on. Talent Harris, who hosted this part of the show was extremely funny with his incredibly accurate impersonations Notorious B.I.G rapping lyrics to the likes of ‘Juicy’ and ‘Hypnotize’.

One-time winner of ‘New York’s Funniest Male Comedian’ Nasal-voiced, Drew Fraser made jokes alluding to Madcow Disease, Fraser speculated ‘Can you even begin to imagine how much weight Black folks lost during all of that?’

Ours and the majority of the audiences favourite comedian of the night was Capone Lee, his abrasive and crass onslaught of comedy was certainly not for the fainted heart. Fresh off 4-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal’s Comedy Tour, Capone covered topics from sex scenarios with various ethnic groups, media myths of African-American manhood to romance with big-boned women. Capone’s hilarious comedy left the audience in the 2000-seater venue in stitches.

Red Velvet
At any comedy show most attendees know not to sit at the front as you could potentially be picked on by a comedian on stage. Someone should have told ‘Red Velvet’ this. Wearing a bright suit made of red velvet all the comedian labelled him with the name and he became the butt of many jokes about his attire. He took the friendly banter, which boarded on battering well and was certainly the man of the evening.

With a performance by former X Factor star Misha B, delicious Caribbean food on sale and DJ Simple Simon providing the romantic soundtrack in between and bass pumping rhythms to introduce each act this was a night that was certainly worth attending. Well done Censored Ents and Showtime Entz for put on a great event.
