Last night saw the launch of the outstanding piece of equipment that is TC-Helicon’s VoiceLive Play.

Don’t be fooled by its size, this little machine packs the same punch as the equipment you would find in a professional recording studio. With 250 song and artist inspired presets across all genres and a range of effects such as reverb and vocal doubling, VoiceLive Play is perfect ‘whether you’re at the top of the charts – or just a dreamer with a microphone’.

TC Helicon’s Communications manager, Jes Vang, kicked off the night with a rundown of VoiceLive Play’s features, commenting that it is already being used in professional studios and is ‘fun to use.’ It runs on the same hardware as its TC Helicon sibling products. Product manager, Tom Lang, then took to the stage to give a live demonstration. There’s no need for a mic and you can practice wearing headphones, so you don’t even have to sing too loud he told the crowd. Connecting his iPhone to VoiceLive Play, Tom debuted a little song he wrote and demonstrated the reverb, delay, harmonies, dry processing, echo, hard-tuned robo-voice, loop and vocal cancel features.

The professionals then took to the stage and wowed the crowd with absolutely first class performances. Alexa Goddard has toured with American progressive rock band Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Her YouTube channel has attracted well over 28 million views and demonstrates her ‘urban and soulful’ sound which is her focus for her solo work. She covered tracks, Price Tag, At Last, Someone Like You, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Best Thing I Never Had during her professional demonstration of VoiceLive Play. Alexa is tiny but dominated the stage with the energy and character she infused into her performance, also singing her own track Lullaby and self-written track Under The Influence.

The amazing singer and songwriter Laura White, whose roots are in Jazz, then took to the stage for a breathtaking set. She covered tracks Somebody Else’s Guy, Best Thing I Never Had, God Bless The Child, Me And Mrs. Jones, Make You Feel My Love, Signed Sealed Delivered and told the crowd at the Hope & Anchor to go crazy and ‘jump on the bar’ when she performed one of her favourite songs, Cry Me River. The crowd last night was small making the performance of her own tracks, Crazy and I Heard, an intimate and amazing experience. These tracks will feature on her debut album which is due for release later this year.

Both artists possess amazing personalities and mingled with the crowd, taking pictures and signing posters. Laura White’s mum was also present for the occasion – how sweet. TC-Helicon also gave all attendees a goody bag containing a copy of their publication, information and an amazing free microphone. Now we just need to get our hands on a VoiceLive Play.

Flavour managed to catch up with product manager Tom Lang after the main performances. ‘We all enjoyed a wonderful evening here at the Hope & Anchor, listening to singer’s demonstrations of our newest product VoiceLive Play. VoiceLive Play is a product for singers who aren’t necessarily professional, or maybe even professionals. It’s our simplest, most affordable, funnest product yet. We hope everybody gets one’.
