Making waves in Scotland’s fashion and textile industry is increasingly challenging as the wealth of creative talent is constantly evolving and advancing.  Fashion and textile platform Scotland Re:Designed (SR:D), along with Creative Scotland have, for the last 3 years, been proudly championing and assisting designers in developing their businesses to the next level .

From a record number of applications, the 12 Exhibitors chosen for SR:D 2014, were selected by an exceptional host of industry leaders that feature Sarah Curran MBE, Susanne Tide-Frater, William Knight,David Watts, Melanie Rickey, Simon Carter, Sarah Murray and Scotland Re:Designed’s founder Chris Hunt.  The chosen exhibitors are as follows:

The pool of 12 designers will be joined by the winner of the New Talent Award which will see a budding designer laden with talent awarded a prize worth over £2,500 from sponsor Zero Waste Scotland, Love Your Clothes Campaign.  Previously, the New Talent Award has gone to Obscure Couture and Mairi McDonald, both of whom have gone on to exhibit at the principal showcase. Applications for this accolade will be opening shortly.

The annual Scotland Re:Designed showcase takes place this November in Glasgow’s leading contemporary arts venue, SWG3, located at 100 Eastvale Place in the cosmopolitan and creatuve Finnieston area of the city.

The 3 day programme opens on the 19th of November with a series of free to attend industry led workshops and discussions, before the main exhibition and showcase on the 20th, followed by further workshops and keynote speakers on the 21st.

Scotland Re:Designed has had a prolific year thus far, beginning the year with a  show at Murrayfield Stadium, followed by a catwalk presentation at the goNORTH Festival before ending the summer with a performance catwalk at the closing weekend of the Commonwealth Games.

The initiative has most recently announced a 3 month winter department store, SR:D Limited Edition at Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal shopping centre, which opens this Saturday, the 1st of November and features 20 of Scotland’s top designers covering all territories from clothing, home wares, interiors, accessories and kids.
