sugapop_poseAs part of the Southbank Centre’s 60th anniversary celebrations of the Festival of Britain, they are launching event: Intelligent Movement: A Celebration of Hip-Hop Culture in association with Channel 4 celebrating the ‘four pillars of hip-hop’ – Djing, MCing, breaking and graffiti.

  • Suga Pop and Southbank Centre launch an ambitious new, international hip-hop dance battle,Dance With Me, with the winners being offered a place in the final in Los Angeles
  • MOBO award-winning Akala explores the history of hip-hop and UK hip-hop dance pioneer Benji Reid discusses his career
  • Evening of hip-hop inspired poetry featuring Polarbear, Inua Ellams and Kate Tempest
  • Free dance workshops, DJ battles, Block Party and late night parties with guest DJ Jazzy Jay
  • Street Dance XXL UK Championships Finals come to Southbank Centre for the first time and will be broadcast as part of Channel 4’s Street Summer seaso
  • The originators of popping, locking and boogaloo – Suga Pop, Popin Pete, Boogaloo Sam, LockAdelic and Mr Wiggles of The Electric Boogaloos perform and give master classes in hip-hop dance.
